SPRAWL CATCHER

[EVOLO SKYSCRAPER COMPETITION] [VG STUDIO] [2016]

"Sprawl Catchers," located along Houston's highways, emerge as a result of various urban transportation speeds. These structures function as tracers for both highway and street speeds and are strategically positioned in key areas within the city's transportation infrastructure. In these locations, car, bus, and train speeds, coupled with daily traffic patterns, create an optimal 'tower-seed' or exit point.

The core of each tower is an integral part of a dynamic communication system linked with the city's highways. This network contemplates both existing and future transportation systems capable of dispatching urban dwellers to different levels above ground and between towers.

Instead of solely relying on ground-floor lobby access, these structures feature multiple entry points and pathways, fostering connections between towers and the city's transportation system. Elevators act like streets, channeling inhabitants in a manner similar to how individual and multi-unit residences open directly from the sidewalk or through communal entrance courtyards to each unit's doorway.
